Everyone Wants to be a GOOGLE Star!

When it comes to websites, search engines and optimizing your presence on the internet (SEO, Search Marketing), small business owners need to insure they have good page ranks. Page ranking in Google or other Search engines like BING or YAHOO! involve several components, and links from other websites to yours is a key element.

Links are important and it’s worth your time to build them, but you will be rewarded if they are links you earned rather than links you bought on sale at a local discount web marketer.

What Should I Do to Get Links?

Some easy ways to develop links over time would be:

  1. Do some good content writing on your blog.  Bloggers will find you and refer to you, and that is, a link. (Blogs are normally indexed by the Search Engines regularly, so you don’t have to worry if the page is indexed or not as you would on some websites.)
  2. Ask your clients to refer you to others on their websites.
  3. Host great resources on your website that others will find helpful.  They will refer to you and that is another link for your treasury.
  4. Press coverage, good or bad for that matter, can get you incoming links.
  5. You can ask others to link to you, but you need to remember: reciprocating links don’t mean a lot in the scope of things, and if their content is not relevant to what you do, it could hurt rather than help you.

Maybe you can set aside 30 minutes this week to do something to your website that will aid your link bank.  Let’s face it, if they help you get higher in the common searches on Yahoo! or Google, and that brings you traffic – that may well lead to business.
