If someone has it in their heart to do what they love, and they are READY to take the consequences for that decision, (perhaps less pay, less glamour, hard work, sacrifice etc.) amazing doors will open.

Here are a few examples:

Nicole Lander loved outdoor combat. Today she owns Battlefield Sports and recently won the Nokia Business Innovation Award at the 2009 TelstraQueensland Business Women's Awards. Judges referred to her business idea as “revolutionary” and her testimony inspiring to the industry.

How many of Nicole’s battle buddies would have predicted she could take her tomboy sport and make international headlines with her success?

Or, look at Sam Goldman and Ned Tozun, of D.light Design. Innovative thinking changed all that and today D.light Design offers households in India and East Africa, who would be without electricity, the ability to have safe bright solar lanterns.  Here is a company whose purpose is about helping people, and they are making money in the process.  They recently won a 2009 Innovation Award from the Social Venture Network. Watch the video and tell me if they are passionate about what they do!

While Sam and Ted were busy being do-goods and thinking out-of-the-box thoughts and perhaps dreaming some granola dreams – I wonder how many of their school classmates had them pegged to make a difference around the world; to change the quality of life for hundreds of thousands of people.

Cheryl Marshall had a dream. She wanted to own a business, to be the boss to determine her own path.  Today, as VP of Vancore Plastic Packaging, she is living out her dream and paying the price to own it. Nicole Allen owns a Candy Aisle Shop, right close to her home.  Her life is filled with sweets – what better dream is there?
