Challenging Stories on Breaking the Rules and Going For It!
In April of 2011 I had the privilege of being the emcee for the day of Defying Expectations in Surrey BC. Sponsored by Maximum Impact Training Inc, the conference was a crazy success. They received scores of reviews, and almost all complimentary – from the tight organization and spacious facility to the talent and personal depth of the speakers.
My role as Master of Ceremonies was to keep the day flowing, and help connect the context of each speaker to the next and to the overall theme: Defying Expectations.
I was so impressed with the speakers and how they embraced the challenge to share from a personal space how they have beat the odds to break through glass ceilings and defy even their own expectations.

Mayor Dianne Watts got up close and personal with the audience and shared how she ever got into politics, and how her personal vision to improve life for others powers her vision to keep going and breaking the molds!
Passionate Athlete, Daughter, Canadian Champion for Change
Joanne Rochette melted the hearts of every woman in the building as she shared her story of love and respect for her mom, her passion for the sport, and the influence of her coaches to discipline her into a champion.
Lawyer, Journalist, Status Quo Breaker
Patricia Graham, Editor in Chief at the Vancouver Sun brought courage to the table and shared how her life in law and journalism has been a life lead through the maze of a male dominated world. Her candor, honesty and determination made it seem easy to break the mold.
Governor General, Haitian, Humanitarian
Michaëlle Jean rocked the crowd with a dancing defiance of imposed limitations. Born in Haiti 
and promoted to the Governor General of Canada, Madame Jean demonstrates the courage it takes to become more than “what’s expected” and shatter the glass ceiling of race and circumstance.
